Hurricane Dolly Update 5
After a couple hours of sleep and spending the greater part of the morning reviewing information and communicating with work it looks like Brownsville is in the is getting the initial bands of Hurricane Dolly in land and based on a recent weather report landfall of the eye is expected between 11am and noon. Those of us within 10 miles of the Rio Grande River will likely end up on the eye for up to an hour before we get hit with the back end of the storm.
With the windows boarded it is becoming clear that the wind and rainfall is picking up but upon a quick review out my front door there isn’t much standing water in my immediate area. There is a possibility that Dolly will reach category 2 before land fall on South Padre Island since it has slowed significantly in the past couple hours.
Based upon conversation with approximately 10 co-workers at 7 am there were few additional reports and most had acknowledged that there is limited activity other than wind in either Matamoros or Brownsville.
I am currently getting my update either via internet or radio since I lost television service around 5:30 am and don’t anticipate it will be restored until some the storm subsides. I will continue to have internet access unless my cell service is lost or will drop my internet service upon power loss to conserve batteries.
